Praise, Gratitude, Joy.
Below are cherished notes and stories from some of my clients through the years.
I'm a big believer that the most important part of my job is not the 'teaching' part, but the 'coaching' part. Often, when we run into roadblocks with our horses, the solution starts with understanding ourselves better, so that we can give the horse a better shot.
This feedback makes me feel all warm and fuzzy 💗 "On a personal note, I really want to thank you for the conversation you had with A. about [her horse]. She needed someone to come along side her; to both hear her and help her. You did both in spades. This ability is what marks truly exceptional trainers (the ability to come along side a trainee and be with them). You are one of the greats Erin, and I want to thank you for taking A. on." K.A., Redmond, WA In the world of customer service, you'll always hear from someone who's dissatisfied, but not as often from someone who had a great experience with you. It never ceases to warm my heart when I get positive feedback, whether from a training client or, in this case from a tack sale.
I'm humbled to share the following: Hello Erin, I want to thank you so much for selling the Monte Foreman Simco Saddle to me. It's the most comfortable saddle for me and my horse. I've never had a Balanced Ride saddle before. I've done some research on the saddle and it has enlightened me about saddles. Today I took the saddle to my saddle maker and he showed me how to adjust the fenders and told me more history about the saddle. I am so impressed!!!!!!! Thank you for allowing me to buy this saddle. I will never get rid of it and what good condition it is in. Kind Regards, Monica (Lampasas, TX) PS: I trust you in future purchases and you may use my name as a reference if need be. |
Anne-Marie's Story
I met Erin about six months ago, when I test drove a horse she was brokering. I was impressed with her easy attitude and professionalism. She coached me as I rode, helping me give the prospect every chance to show me his best side. If I ever need to sell a horse, I would have no reservations hiring Erin as the broker.
After the ride, we ended up talking in the barn aisle (like you do) for over an hour and spoke about training philosophies, methods and
motivations. When I decided that the horse wasn’t a good fit, she again impressed me with her professionalism.
As I continued to look for MY horse, I started taking lessons on her lesson horses. I had some key things I wanted to work on, and I
found her supporting and encouraging. She was very good at explaining things in multiple ways and letting me take the time I needed to figure things out. I am not an easy student, I tend to overanalyze. Again, I was struck with her professionalism. I always felt that our lesson time was OUR time, she never multitasked or took phone calls or got distracted (something I’ve experienced with other trainers).
Once I found MY horse, I continued taking lessons with Erin. My new horse is young, and has some really good training, but there are
some pretty big holes. Erin has been helping me learn to communicate with my new horse, as well as continue working on what *I* need to learn. I am impressed with how quickly my horse and I are progressing….I’ve had weekly lessons before from trainers, but always figured that the slow/lack of progress was that I was a crummy rider and that was just how it was going to be. I have, in six short weeks with my new horse, seen more progress in BOTH of us than I saw in YEARS of lessons with other trainers.
I credit Erin with her calm, patient attitude and willingness to explain things over and over, in as many different ways as possible. If something doesn’t work, she assesses and then tries something else. She doesn’t rely on useless catchphrases or gimmicks, instead focusing on consistent, focused goals, clearly communicated. Lessons are fun, not drudgery! And this is from me, an avowed arena work hater.
I highly recommend Erin, whether you’re brokering a horse, taking lessons on one of her steady eddy lesson horses, or taking lessons on your own horse. I feel fortunate that she’s on our team.
